Ask a thousand SEOs what is the best way to develop back links and you will probably be given a thousand different answers. While there are so many different ways to obtain links to your web site, not all of them are considered to be legitimate white hat methods. White hat methods are essentially link building tactics that do not breach the Google Webmaster Guidelines.

One tactic that often gets overlooked by webmasters is the good ol’ fashioned press release. Back in the day, a PR person would be forced to contact dozens of newspapers and web sites trying to spark enough interest that the publisher would post a copy of their Press Release.

Thanks to the Internet, there are plenty of less time consuming methods available to get our releases published; numerous services exist that will do it for us!

While there are hundreds of sites out there that will gladly publish your PR for free, the syndication on these services won’t go very far. While these services might not result in syndication, they will result in free links pointing back to your website which can and will provide you with more search engine authority. If you are on a bootstrapped budget, you have to take every scrap you can get, and these sites will definitely provide you with a little link love.

Paid Press Release Distribution

For those on a budget, you can’t complain about free, but if you really want to hang with the big boys I’d recommend checking out one of the major paid news release services. Both of these services will not only post your press release on their web sites, they will also syndicate it to hundreds, if not thousands of other web sites around the world. If you go for their really expensive bundles you might even get published in a real world magazine or newspaper. Typically, when I have big news with any of my major projects, these are the press release services I use.
